FSSAI labelling requirements for snacks & namkeen

Packaged snacks and namkeen carry the general FSSAI declarations plus the trans-fat limit and, where it qualifies, the Trans Fat-Free logo.

The trans-fat limit

The trans-fatty-acid content of the oils and fats used is capped at 2% (reduced from 5% by 2022). Fried and fat-based snacks are formulated to meet this limit.

The 'Trans Fat-Free' logo

A product may carry the 'Trans Fat-Free' logo when it contains less than 0.2 g of trans fat per 100 g or 100 ml, in line with the FSS (Advertising and Claims) Regulations, 2018.

Nutrition, allergens and the veg / non-veg mark

The nutrition panel (per 100 g and per serving, with fat and sodium shown), the ingredient, allergen and additive declarations, and the veg / non-veg mark all apply. LabelYog builds them from your recipe.
