How to create a nutrition facts panel

A nutrition facts panel is built from three things: the reference amount for your product category, the nutrient values per that amount, and the rounding and format the market requires. Here is the order that keeps it compliant.

1. Start from the reference amount, not the portion

Regulators fix a reference amount for each food category, and the serving size on the pack is derived from it. Declaring against the portion you happen to sell is the most common reason a panel is sent back.

2. Get nutrient values per that amount
