Integrative approach to modelling of ciguatera in the Canary Islands and the Mediterranean
This deliverable applies stati alyse the spatio‐temporal dynamics of ciguatera food poisoning risk in the Balearic Islands and Canary Islands, integrating long‐term biological, environmental, and oceanographic data. Results show that ciguatera risk is shaped by non‐linear temperature responses, nutrient‐related drivers, and pronounced temporal lags between toxic microalgal abundance and fish contamination, reflecting trophic accumulation processes.
