GSO nutrition labelling (GCC)
How to build a compliant GCC nutrition panel under GSO 2233 — per 100 g and per serving, with %NRV and the 2025 harmonised update.
The GSO 2233 nutrition panel
Nutrition labelling for prepackaged foods across the GCC follows GSO 2233. The information is set out as a table, typically declared per 100 g or 100 ml and per serving, with a % of the Nutrient Reference Value (NRV) shown against the relevant nutrients. The table format is what buyers and inspectors expect, so a free-text nutrition paragraph will not satisfy the standard.
Core declarations
The core set to declare covers energy, protein, fat, saturated fat, carbohydrate, sugars and sodium (or salt). These are the nutrients a Gulf consumer reads first, and they anchor the panel. Get the per-100 and per-serving columns consistent — the serving size you choose drives the per-serving figures and the %NRV alongside them.
The 2025 harmonised update
A new harmonised GCC nutrition-labelling standard (2025) is being introduced to unify the panel format, the %DV/NRV presentation and the tolerance rules across GCC markets. The aim is a single consistent panel rather than country-by-country variation. Track the update as it rolls out and align your artwork so the same panel works across the Gulf.
Bilingual panel and claims
The nutrition panel is bilingual, with Arabic mandatory — the nutrient names and figures must be readable in Arabic, with English able to sit alongside. Certain claims trigger additional declarations, so if you say something about a nutrient on the front of pack, be ready to back it in the panel. LabelYog builds it from your recipe.

Questions
Which standard governs GCC nutrition labelling?
Nutrition labelling for prepackaged foods across the GCC follows GSO 2233, which sets the table format and the per-100 and per-serving declarations.
Do I show values per 100 g or per serving?
Typically both — per 100 g or 100 ml and per serving — with a %NRV shown against the relevant nutrients.
What nutrients must I declare?
The core set is energy, protein, fat, saturated fat, carbohydrate, sugars and sodium (or salt).
What is the 2025 update?
A new harmonised GCC nutrition-labelling standard (2025) unifying panel format, %DV/NRV presentation and tolerance rules across GCC markets.
Does a nutrition claim change my panel?
It can — certain claims trigger additional declarations, so a front-of-pack claim should be supported in the nutrition information.
